At Ecoware, we believe that sustainability and great design can coexist beautifully. That philosophy came to life in our collaboration with The Lost Explorer Mezcal, resulting in the creation of TLEM Copitas — elegant, functional, and sustainable cups designed specifically to enhance the mezcal-tasting experience.
The Lost Explorer Mezcal embodies a deep respect for nature, artisanal craft, and the cultural heritage of mezcal. The challenge was to design a drinking vessel that reflected that same spirit — one that would align with the brand’s minimal yet authentic design language, elevate the ritual of tasting mezcal, and remain kind to the planet.
We wanted to create something more than just a cup. We set out to design an experience — a product that would capture the soul of mezcal and the sustainability values that guide both The Lost Explorer and Ecoware.
Our answer was the TLEM Copita, a 2oz tasting cup meticulously designed and produced using post-industrial agave waste — the fibrous byproduct known as bagazo that remains after mezcal production. By repurposing this natural material, we transformed what would otherwise be waste into a high-quality, durable, and eco-friendly vessel.
Each copita is available in three unique color tones, inspired by the earthy elegance of agave and the artisanal touch of mezcaleros. Every detail — from the smooth texture to the minimal curves — was carefully considered to complement the aesthetic identity of The Lost Explorer Mezcal.
The result? A product that feels organic, looks refined, and perfectly fits the hand, allowing mezcal drinkers to connect with the drink’s origins in a more conscious and sensory way.
Our design process began with deep research into the rituals of mezcal tasting, the tactile experience of handcrafted glassware, and the sustainable materials available within the mezcal industry itself. We collaborated closely with The Lost Explorer team to ensure that the final design was not only functional but philosophically aligned with their values of exploration, respect, and sustainability.
By incorporating PolyAgave, our proprietary biocomposite made from agave fibers, we were able to reduce plastic use significantly while maintaining the strength, texture, and performance expected of premium promotional products. The result is a tangible demonstration of how innovation and circular design can support brand storytelling and environmental responsibility.
The TLEM Copitas were delivered as a custom promotional product for The Lost Explorer Mezcal — unique, functional, and high in perceived value. The minimalist design enhances the brand’s identity while serving as a conversation piece that extends its message of sustainability.
