In Åhus, Sweden, Absolut vodka has been distilled since the nineteenth century with three ingredients: pure spring water, winter wheat, and a proprietary yeast (Vinetur, 2026). On Avery Island, Louisiana, TABASCO sauce has been crafted since 1868 with only three elements: hand-harvested red peppers, salt, and vinegar, fermented for up to three years in oak barrels (Indie Hoy, 2026). This collaboration brings together two heavyweights of flavor, each with over a century of history and a legacy defined by authenticity and quality.
When two icons like that come together to launch a product, the cup it is served in cannot be ordinary.
Absolut Tabasco is the premium spicy vodka that fuses the Scandinavian character of Absolut with the unmistakable heat of TABASCO sauce, available in over 50 markets since February 2026. Ecoware, AIM's specialized division, is the Mexican company that produces promotional articles and packaging using patented PolyAgave biobase technology — incorporating agave fiber, the byproduct of Mexico's tequila industry, as a structural component that replaces conventional plastics with a material that begins as agricultural waste and ends as a premium everyday product.
"In Mexico, spice is identity and culture. That is why the launch of Absolut Tabasco is a collaboration with deep cultural relevance that integrates naturally into local consumption rituals," said Fernanda Gálvez, Senior Brand Manager of Absolut Vodka in Mexico. That cultural relevance could not stay inside the bottle alone.
The launch of Absolut Tabasco arrived with a double pressure. On one side, the demand to communicate the premium and audacious character of the product at every point of consumer contact — including the cup in which the first sip is served. On the other, the growing commitment of both brands to sustainability, in a context where the alliance aims to consolidate itself within a category that continues to gain ground in the global beverage market, and where consumers increasingly demand coherence between brands' environmental commitments and their production decisions.
The challenge that Halo, the client behind the project, brought to AIM was clear: produce cups and shots for the Absolut Tabasco activations that were as memorable as the product they were going to hold, that carried the signature of both brands with the visual force the launch demanded, and that did so with materials capable of sustaining the campaign's environmental responsibility narrative. Conventional plastic was off the table.
AIM, through its Ecoware division, designed, developed, and produced a two-piece system for Absolut Tabasco activations: a 12 oz cup for cocktails and a 3.5 oz shot for tasting. Both manufactured with PolyAgave technology — Ecoware's patented formula that incorporates agave fiber as a structural component of the material.
In Mexico, tequila production generates over one million tons of agave bagasse annually, with a negative environmental impact. Ecoware's technology is based on making the most of this waste to reduce the carbon footprint, mitigate plastic use, and gradually diminish deforestation. That biomass, which would otherwise end up polluting the rural Jalisco landscape, becomes here the material in which a premium vodka is served at its first global activations. Ecoware
The 12 oz cups were produced in two versions: Inmold Orange Peel, with a textured finish that evokes citrus skin — a visual nod to the Spicy Bloody Mary cocktail the brand recommends — and Inmold Clear, with a transparent finish that lets the color of the cocktail show through without interference. Both incorporate 30% agave fiber in their composition and feature full-color inmold printing, meaning the "Absolut Tabasco" artwork is integrated into the material during the manufacturing process — not applied as an external label — achieving superior graphic quality and durability compared to conventional printing methods.
The 3.5 oz tasting shot is manufactured with 10% agave fiber and includes a one-ink screen print in an area of approximately 3.5 × 3.5 cm — the exact size for the Absolut Tabasco co-branded logo to appear clearly in the smallest format without losing legibility. The natural texture of the agave fiber is visible across all models: the fibers that the consumer sees and feels on the surface are not a manufacturing defect. They are the signature of the material. The physical evidence that what is in the consumer's hand is not conventional plastic.
Production ran from 25,000 pieces for the 12 oz cups and 10,000 for the shots, with lead times of 41 and 36 business days respectively — timelines designed to synchronize with the launch activation calendar in Mexico and other markets.
The impact of the Ecoware cups at the Absolut Tabasco activations unfolded across three simultaneous dimensions: sensory, narrative, and environmental.
The first was total brand coherence. "We need to launch honest products, ones that deliver on what they promise and manage to surprise," explained Alejandro Ayala, Brand Manager of Absolut Vodka. The agave fiber cup fulfilled exactly that promise: it surprised through its texture, its appearance unlike any conventional promotional cup, and the story embedded in its material. The consumer who took the Absolut Tabasco shot in an agave cup received two simultaneous messages: that the brand is audacious in its product and consistent in its packaging.
The second was amplified sensory experience. The Orange Peel texture of the 12 oz cup — rough, warm to the touch, with visible fibers — anticipated the cocktail experience before the first sip. In activations where the goal is for the consumer to remember the brand experience, that tactile detail is exactly the kind of differentiator that stays in memory long after the cup is empty.
The third result was demonstrated environmental credibility. Ecoware actively participates in the circular economy by offering products created from agave waste generated by tequila production, with the goal of reusing as much vegetable residual material as possible and preventing waste from contaminating the Mexican rural landscape. For a collaboration between two brands that share the value of respecting their origin processes — Absolut with its Swedish wheat, TABASCO with its Avery Island peppers — serving in a cup made from the byproduct of another plant-based industry was not an accident. It was coherence. Ecoware
What This Cup Opens Up for Your Brand
The Absolut Tabasco × Ecoware × AIM case traces a promotional article model that few premium beverage brands have been able to execute with this precision: the cup as an extension of the product, not as a generic container.
A cup with visible agave fiber needs no sustainability explanation: the materiality speaks for itself. The fibers the consumer sees and touches are the physical proof of the brand's environmental commitment, with no additional text required on the packaging.
Ecoware's inmold technology produces articles with premium-level graphic quality — full color integrated into the material, not printed onto it — at competitive prices in volumes starting from 10,000 pieces. That makes this level of execution viable not only for global launches, but for mid-scale activations that demand brand presence without compromise.
And for brands that, like Absolut Tabasco, build their identity on the fusion of two distinct universes, a cup that also fuses two materials — plastic and natural fiber — is not just a container. It is an argument.
